Combat Mindset & Fighting Stress

How to Perform Under Alarming and Stressful Conditions

About the Book

This book deals with the less-known inner processes of the Krav Maga system, covering the core topics that have proved crucial and highly applicable in a variety of professional and personal situations.

Much like a trained body, a “trained” mind is more likely to be able to deal with different situations – either stressful or alarming – more efficiently and much better. Become better equipped to make the right decision in volatile conditions.

The book explains and thoroughly illustrates the three dimensions of mental training and conditioning:

Combat Mindset
Focus and concentration
Relaxation and defuse of destructive emotions

Co-authored by Master Eyal Yanilov and Dr. Ole Boe, Combat Mindset & Fighting Stress is the most inventive and revolutionary work.
The book embraces the spirit of modern day Krav Maga, and nothing like it has ever been published. This cutting-edge book shows the most updated techniques and training methods for warriors of all kinds, whether in army or police uniform, in medicine, in business, martial arts of all styles or competitive sports teams who perform challenging tasks under stressful conditions.

Introduction

Fear and stress are conditions that we all experience from time to time. A life without any stress at all would look very strange and somewhat dull. It is natural for humans to feel stressed when confronted with physical danger but also when something new, difficult, or unforeseen comes up, or even when someone is judging or testing us. Being stressed is the brain and body’s natural way of trying to take care of us in situations where we feel or perceive that we have stepped outside our normal routine.

The aim of this book is to impart to the reader, based on our knowledge and experience, how to improve decision making under stressful conditions. We also explain how to enhance and recruit all needed mental resources to deal with violent and nonviolent confrontations, as well as how to manage the mind when it is flooded with information during stressful missions…

Positively constructing your internal dialog, self-talk, will ensure a substantial change in your perception of others and different situations. Imagine you find yourself in a situation where someone is about to attack you.

You tell yourself: ”He is going to hit me! It’s going to hurt and I will break my nose!” – in most cases, this self-talk enhances anxiety and stress. But what if you say to yourself: “He is going to strike me, I need to stop him before he hits me”?

You are trained, and the meaning is you take initiative and engage in constructive self-talk with the correct physical and technical solutions. You are in the driver’s seat and achieved a Combat Mindset.

“You can improve your performance and perception skills under stress by practicing better decision making while activating your nervous system”

We hope you enjoy reading it with lots of new insights.

“AT 175 BPM, YOUR THINKING DEGRADES.
Your ability to process information and make decisions starts to suffer…Suddenly it becomes difficult to see two or more attackers and even to follow their movements as the oxygen flow to the eyes is insufficient and causes tunnel vision. Between 185 and 220 BPM you are in hypervigilance – you act inefficiently your brain just stops.
UNLESS YOU ARE WELL-TRAINED.”
